Launched by LISC Greater Newark and the Victoria Foundation in 2018, the Neighbors Helping Neighborhoods (NHN) grant program is designed to build community connections, enhance resident leader networks,
and support grassroots projects.
Specifically, this grant program prioritizes project proposals from Fairmount Heights and Clinton Hill residents.
All applications will be reviewed by community stakeholders and residents from these two Newark neighborhoods. Grant awards will be up to $1,000 in support of grassroots projects focused on any of the areas below.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Covid-19 health fair, healthy food and nutrition classes, meditation sessions, neighborhood block watch
ARTS & CULTURE
Community newsletter, neighborhood storytelling project, park reading series, culture festival etc.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Neighborhood clean-ups, sustainable planting and gardening, vacant lot transformation, murals, etc.
Community tool shed, food co-op, small business expo, etc.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP & MENTORING
Mentoring/rites of passage program, youth poetry slam, youth sports team
